Spotlight on Peter & Katie Dunstan
For Peter and Katie Dunstan, inner healing is not just a ministry focus—it is a lived experience that has profoundly shaped their lives, marriage, and calling.
Based in regional New South Wales near Tamworth, the couple have spent years ministering both nationally and internationally, equipping others to walk in freedom. With decades of faith behind them—Peter having followed Christ for over 50 years and Katie for more than 30—their journey into inner healing was not immediate, but deeply transformative.
A Personal Encounter That Changed Everything
Katie’s first encounter with inner healing was both deeply personal and profoundly spiritual.
Sitting in her lounge room while seeking God, she experienced what she describes as a powerful moment of revelation:
“The presence of God felt so strongly… He showed me my mum when she was pregnant with me, and I could feel this deep emotional pain. The Lord revealed it was rejection.”
In that moment, Katie recognised she had been carrying a wound she had never consciously identified. What followed was a life-altering encounter with the love of God:
“It was like a deluge of love that flooded my heart… it just washed away the rejection I’d been carrying.”
For Peter, the journey began through exposure to inner healing teaching during ministry training. However, it was later—during a personal crisis—that its importance became undeniable:
“I realised I had carried emotional wounds for years as a pastor without recognising it… that started me on a journey of how to get healed.”
Together, their healing journeys not only restored their own lives but ignited a shared passion to help others experience the same freedom.
From Personal Healing to Global Ministry
What began as a personal process soon became a shared calling.
Early in their marriage, both Peter and Katie became aware of unresolved wounds from their pasts. That first year, though challenging, became foundational:
“Without the grace of God, we wouldn’t have made it. But He took us through that for a purpose—to release us into ministering in this area.”
Katie recalls a prophetic vision that confirmed their calling:
“I saw the arms of God holding a sword… and the Lord said, ‘I will wield you as my sword to break strongholds and set my people free.”
Today, that vision is being fulfilled. The Dunstans travel across nations, running their Heart Healed, Destiny Awakenedtraining, equipping leaders and believers in inner healing.
The Power of Inner Healing
Through years of ministry, they have witnessed countless testimonies of transformation.
One involved a young man battling addiction and chronic pain. After ministering to both emotional and physical trauma, healing followed:
“When we dealt with the emotional trauma, it unlocked the physical healing.”
For the Dunstans, this connection is central:
“Often, emotional trauma is left untreated… but when the heart is healed, physical healing can follow.”
A Vision for the Church
Looking ahead, Peter and Katie carry a strong vision for inner healing across Australia:
“We’d love to see inner healing in every church… part of discipleship, not just something for a few.”
They believe that as more people come to Christ, the need for healing will only increase:
“Most people coming in will be broken… we need an army equipped to bring healing and wholeness.”
Katie adds that this training should begin at foundational levels:
“We’d love to see inner healing embedded in Bible colleges—not as an elective, but a core unit.”
At the heart of their message is a simple truth:
healed people build healthy, unified communities.
Healing Wounded Hearts: A Book Born from Experience
Out of their personal journey and years of ministry, Peter and Katie co-authored their book:
Healing Wounded Hearts: Holy Spirit Directed Inner Healing
The book was written to meet a clear and growing need:
“We realised there was a huge gap… people needed something simple, biblically grounded, that could guide them into healing.”
Designed as both a teaching resource and a practical guide, the book walks readers through foundational truths and step-by-step processes for inner healing.
“It’s not a complex theological book. It’s a simple, practical manual to help people come into wholeness.”
Each chapter includes guided prayers and tools, allowing readers to actively engage in their own healing journey:
“At the end of each chapter, there are prayers to unlock healing… people are being set free just by working through it.”
A Tool for Individuals and Churches
The Dunstans envision the book serving a wide audience:
Individuals seeking personal healing
Christians wanting to understand inner healing
Churches looking for a practical ministry tool
“It could be a helpful manual for pastoral teams… a starting point for churches to step into inner healing.”
At its core, the message is both simple and powerful:
“Freedom. Being set free—and then equipped to help set others free.”
Restoring Identity and Unlocking Destiny
More than healing wounds, the Dunstans emphasise identity as central:
“People don’t fully realise their potential in Christ until their identity is healed.”
They believe unresolved wounds—especially rejection—can distort identity and limit a believer’s ability to walk in their calling:
“Inner healing is a key to coming into the fullness of who we are in Christ.”
A Ministry Marked by Love and Transformation
For Peter and Katie, the greatest joy of ministry is seeing lives transformed:
“When people break free from strongholds… it’s hard to beat that.”
But beyond transformation, they see something even deeper—hearts restored to relationship with God:
“It’s about connection… a deep, covenant love with the Father.”
And that, they believe, is what inner healing ultimately leads to:
A restored heart.
A renewed identity.
And a destiny awakened.
Transforming lives through Apostolic and Prophetic ministry, restoring hearts, and equipping leaders for Kingdom impact.
